Fix the app you have
If the code is in good shape, we fix it where it is, most important screens first.
Accessibility (ADA/WCAG) remediation
We find what fails WCAG, the rulebook for accessible websites, in your web app. Then our engineers fix the code at a fixed price and leave accessibility tests in it. In 2025, UsableNet counted more than 5,000 lawsuits over sites and apps people couldn’t use.
Step one is Gnar Discovery and Design: we check your app against WCAG and price the fixes. It takes two weeks or more, starts at $15,000, and you get every problem we find in writing.
Two common shortcuts don’t fix your code. An overlay sits on top of your pages and leaves the code as it was. Many audit firms hand your team a list and leave the fixing to you. The Gnar Company finds the problems and fixes them itself, for companies and public agencies that run a custom web app or customer portal.

What changes
Some people move around a page with the Tab key instead of a mouse. Every link, menu, field and button works that way, in the order it appears on screen.
A screen reader reads the page out loud for people who can’t see it. Every field gets a label and every important image a description, so it can say what each one is.
We fix faint colors, small text and the outline that shows where you are on the page. Your app still looks like your app.
We leave accessibility tests in your code, and they run every time it changes. If an update breaks a tested fix, the tests flag it before it goes live.
Two ways in
Discovery shows which one fits, and you choose. Either way, the price is agreed before we start.
If the code is in good shape, we fix it where it is, most important screens first.
If the app has bigger problems too, as the AARP Foundation’s tools did, we can rebuild it. Accessibility tests run from the first day of the build.

How it works
First comes Discovery, at a fixed price. Nothing in your code changes until it’s done.
Software checks every type of page for the WCAG 2.1 AA and 2.2 problems it can catch. Then our engineers test the hardest screens by hand, with a keyboard and a screen reader. You get every problem we find in writing, matched to its screen, with a fixed price to fix them. You can share it with your legal team.
Engineers fix the code, including the shared parts every screen is built from. Designers fix colors, text and focus outlines. Each round of fixes has a fixed price, agreed before we start. If it runs over, that’s on us.
The accessibility tests become part of your app’s regular tests. They run on every future update.
Common questions
Still have questions?
It means people with disabilities can use every part of your web app. That includes people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, or larger text. The Gnar Company checks your app against WCAG 2.1 AA and the newer WCAG 2.2 rules. WCAG has three levels, A, AA and AAA, and AA is the level the Justice Department’s rule sets for state and local government sites. Then we fix what fails, in the code and the design.
The Gnar Company does this work. We find what fails WCAG 2.1 AA and 2.2 in your portal, then our senior US engineers and designers fix the code and design behind it. If the code is in good shape, your customers keep the portal they know. Discovery comes first, at a fixed price starting at $15,000, so you know what the fixes will cost before any code changes.
Usually a few screens at a time, most important first. The Gnar Company runs automatic accessibility checks across the whole app, and we write down every problem we find. Engineers test the hardest screens by hand, because software misses some problems. Problems we can’t fix yet go on a known-issues list, so you can track each one until it’s fixed. If the app has bigger problems too, we can rebuild it instead.
Yes. The Gnar Company checks government software against WCAG 2.1 AA and fixes what fails. That’s the level the Justice Department’s ADA rule sets for state and local government sites. If your agency needs an independent audit, it runs that audit and we fix what it finds. We have worked with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on accessibility. We also built the Abuser Registry for the Massachusetts Disabled Persons Protection Commission, and we still maintain it. The agency now has a new name: the Commission for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities.
No. An overlay is a script that sits on top of your pages, and the code underneath stays the same. In 2025, the Federal Trade Commission ordered one overlay maker to pay $1 million over claims that its tool could make any website compliant. The Gnar Company fixes the code and design directly: labels, headings, colors and keyboard order.
Send it to us. The Gnar Company fixes what an outside audit finds, screen by screen. Discovery still comes first: we match each problem in your audit to the screen and the code behind it, then give you a fixed price for the fixes.
A written list of every WCAG problem The Gnar Company finds in Discovery, matched to its screen, with a fixed price to fix them. As the fixes ship, the accessibility tests show what passes. Problems we can’t fix yet go on a known-issues list. Once the fixes ship, we can also fill in a VPAT for you, the standard Section 508 accessibility report, as an option.
Discovery is a fixed price with clear deliverables. Implementation runs on fixed milestones under the full triple guarantee: the price holds, the outcome is guaranteed, and the build carries a 12-month bug-free warranty.
Three commitments on every build engagement: a fixed milestone price, a guaranteed outcome (the software works as specified or we fix it), and a 12-month bug-free warranty. It covers the projects we run. It does not cover staff augmentation, because in that case we are reinforcing your team rather than running the project.
For a full year after delivery, we repair any non-conforming code at no charge. The warranty covers code that doesn’t work as specified. Feature additions and ongoing operational support are handled separately through our monthly support retainer.
A small team of senior US-based engineers and a product manager, covering web development, mobile development, and UI/UX design in-house. No offshore teams, no junior developers staffed on after a senior pitch.
The codebase is yours, in your repository, documented for hand-off. The 12-month warranty obligates us to fix non-conforming code, independent of any ongoing contract. Our monthly support retainer is available for clients who want it and is never a requirement.
