You know the price before we write any code.
The Gnar Company does fixed-price software development. First comes Discovery: 2 to 6 weeks of planning, from $15,000. It ends with a written plan split into milestones (working pieces of the software), each with a fixed price in the contract. If a milestone costs more to build, the overage is on us.
How it works
Strategize. Scope. Ship. Scale.
Four steps, and you can buy any one on its own. Not sure which ideas are worth building? Start with Compass, which ranks them. Already know what to build? Start with Discovery, which prices it.
It starts with a free call with Pete.
Pete Whiting, Head of Sales, runs it. In 30 minutes we'll talk about what you're trying to solve and whether we can help. If your own engineers have the time and know what to build, you don't need us, and Pete will say so.
Compass
Not sure what to build first? We find which ideas are worth the money, and rank them.
You get: a plan that puts your ideas in order, by what each one is worth.
- We interview your leaders
- We watch how the work gets done today
- We score each idea on what it earns, not just what it costs
Discovery
What exactly will we build, and what will it cost?
You get: a written build plan, split into milestones (working pieces of the software), with a fixed price on each.
- We talk to the people who will use it
- We sketch it and test it with them
- We write down what it must do
$15,000, $20,000 or $30,000 for 2, 4 or 6 weeks. You can build from the plan with us or anyone else.
Build
One milestone at a time. The price does not move.
You get: working software, new or rebuilt.
- One milestone at a time
- Each one at a fixed price
- Senior US engineers
Maintain
Keep it working. Keep making it better.
You get: hosting, monitoring, support, and the same person who built it.
- We agree on what to work on next
- We make it better
- We apply security patches and software updates
- We reorder priorities as your needs change
From $1,000 a month. Or your own team takes over, with our help.
After launch
The code is yours. Run it with us or without us.
We write it all down so your team can take over.

It means you know the price before any code is written. At The Gnar Company, Discovery ends with a build plan that splits the work into milestones, each with a fixed price. If the build costs more than that, the overage is on us. You see the whole price before you decide to build, with us or with anyone else.
Fixed price puts the cost of a slow build on the builder, not you. Time and materials bills you for every hour, so the final number is unknown until the work is done. With The Gnar Company, you know the price before we write a single line of code. We can do that because the price is set after Discovery, once the work is agreed.
It's a free 30-minute call with Pete Whiting, Head of Sales at The Gnar Company. Bring us the problem you want solved. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so on the call. If we are, the next step is usually Discovery, or Compass if you still need to decide where to invest first.
Small changes are included. At The Gnar Company, small, agreed adjustments fit inside the fixed price. A bigger change, like a new feature, gets sized first. If it's small, we absorb it. If it's bigger, we price it as new work and you decide whether to add it. The price of the work you already agreed to doesn't move, and any overage on it is on us.
Every build engagement at The Gnar Company comes with three promises, written into the contract. The price holds: each milestone has a fixed price, and any overage is on us. We define success in writing, and the software works the way we agreed, or we fix it free. And a 12-month bug-free warranty: for a full year after launch, we fix any code that doesn't work the way we agreed, at no charge. On this page, the guarantee covers Discovery, Build and Maintain. For Compass, the strategy step, ask us.
You choose who runs it. The code is yours, documented for hand-off. Your own team can take over with our support and knowledge transfer, or we keep building it with you. Either way, you're covered by our 12-month bug-free warranty. Gnar Maintain covers hosting, monitoring and support, from the same person who built it. From $1,000 a month.
At The Gnar Company, a typical build is $150K to $300K+, at a fixed price set at the end of Discovery. Discovery itself costs $15,000, $20,000 or $30,000 for two, four or six weeks. Maintain starts at $1,000 a month for hosting, monitoring and support. Compass, the strategy step, runs 6 to 8 weeks at one fixed price, agreed before we start.
The Gnar Company puts its promises in the contract. Most agencies ask you to trust their pitch. We'd rather you trust the contract: on every build engagement, a fixed milestone price with any overage on us, software that works as specified or we fix it, and a twelve-month bug-free warranty. We publish twenty-two case studies with the client's name on them. And if your own team should do the work, we will say so on the call.
